Camp-2019

Choose Your Attitude was the focus phrase of the day (ask your camper about the “I know there’s a pony in there somewhere” story and see if they can tell it to you!)  Mother Nature was super cooperative today…not a cloud in the sky for the entire day with a great breeze on the lakeside.  The votes are in and the verdict is clear:  the food at GLBC is UH -MAZING!!!  I even had my first taco in a bag yesterday, which Roxy promptly told the entire camp and I have received many “Congratulations on your first walking taco” comments from the campers! 😊

And we started the Quadathalon today.  Had to make a slight modification to the canoe portion of the quad due to windy conditions, so the campers learned how to portage a paddle board in their teams!

Tomorrow is skit night . . . already. Crazy. Sleep well, dream big #AW2019

Ok, Monday is in the books!  Despite a sketchy start with wet courts, we got all of our court time and co-op counts in!  Focus phrase of the day was FOCUS and the kids did a great job tying that into on the court and off the court activities. I heard several campers say “Come on, you can do it … are you a Texan or an Eskimo?”  And the giant Jenga game was a giant hit!! Who knew our campers would have such finely honed Jenga skills . . . camp record today with one game taking 1 hour and 6 minutes!!  Super fun 😊

Tomorrow is a big day …we start the first ever Arrowood Pentathlon (we’ve bumped it up from the Quadathalon!!) so stay tuned for more on that. 

Our campers of the day today were Riley Christianson and Lucy Carraux … congrats to them for being super positive, encouraging and just all around fun kids.  I really enjoy Lucy’s sense of humor and she got me with a good one today!  Riley made a point to stop me earlier today and looked at me with a very serious look on her face and said “I really like it here.”  I said “You do?”  And she said “Yeah, I really like being at this camp!”  So I will end with that. 😊Sleep well and dream big!  #AW2019
